Hardware buying guide
Buy the right board.
The target layout is a wired DOIO KB16-01-style control board with a four-by-four key grid and three clickable rotary encoders. Product listings and revisions can change, so verify the physical controls shown below before ordering.
Required physical layout
- Sixteen mechanical keys arranged as a 4 × 4 grid
- Three rotary encoders: two small upper dials and one large lower dial
- Each encoder supports clockwise, anticlockwise and press actions
- USB connection that carries data, not charging only
- Programmable key and encoder mappings
- A return option in case the delivered revision differs from the listing

Compare the destination listing photographs against the supplied images. A 12-key/two-knob board is a different layout and will not match the standard map.

What to do when it arrives
- Connect the board by USB and confirm Windows detects keyboard input.
- Open the supported configurator and verify all sixteen keys and three encoder presses are visible.
- Follow the ThisBoard signal map.
- Install ThisBoard Studio and use Diagnostics to verify every control.
