The DOIO sends reserved F13–F24 combinations. ThisBoard intercepts them and decides what they do, so profiles and macros can change without reflashing or repeatedly reprogramming the keyboard.

Safe Accept: the Hold OK action requires a deliberate hold before its configured confirmation shortcut is sent.
